Avantindietro
Maurizio Altieri is a pioneer and luminary, whose work expounds the evolution of conceptual clothing. Here in his project Avantindietro, his masterful creations of refined patterns and convoluted concepts, include the utilization of highly prized materials in counterintuitive ways. Altieri is perpetually exploring with research and development, to guide the evolvement of interactive experience with the articles to the next level, whilst maintaining aesthetic representations that are uniquely his own. ~David Choi
Carpe Diem / ContinuesCarpe Diem was the brainchild of designer/artist Maurizio Altieri; a man who strives towards the fruition of his vision, without compromise. The articles were prepared with great attention to detail, transcending mere fashion, with timeless conceptual designs and flawless execution in accordance to the collective’s philosophy. Carpe Diem was not a mere design house - but a movement.
From its inception in 1996, the design philosophy had been one that embraced unremitting classics. Their utilitarian pieces were hand crafted from the finest materials available, which were than exposed to a myriad of specialized treatments. The materials included all manner of fabrics and leathers, which had undergone unique processing methods. Maurizio had developed the label into a trinity of ready to wear lines ( Carpe Diem / Linea / L'Maltieri ) that are all interchangeable and compliment each stables design.
The arduous and labor intensive processes that went into the fabric' treatment were carried through into the construction of the garments and footwear, which were hand crafted. Every facet, in the pursuit of the ideal final product was considered and fully realized through scrupulous contemplation, from material selection to attentive manipulation of seams and refined distressing work in the finishes.
The Carpe Diem house philosophy manifests itself in the purity of its creations. Altieri veers from manipulative marketing propaganda and logo driven brand recognition, but rather spotlights the tailoring and essence of each piece, which calls upon one to find a deeper appreciation of the article's composition and construction.
Now defunct, we are proud to offer an archived selection of Carpe Diem, Linea and L'Maltieri. ~David Choi

Layer-0
Designer Alessio Zero is one who approaches design with the goal of a streamlined aesthetic achieved by way of unseen complexity in his patterns and their applications. Upon completion of his training as a patternmaker, Alessio continues to reinforce the creative aspect of his line, by drawing upon his personal experiences, which are faultlessly realized in execution with his exercised skills as a master tailor. His utilization of techniques from the traditional hand made practices of garment construction are applied towards the creation of his vision of the future. Exhaustive attention to detail is paid to every facet of his designs to manifest his ideals. (, right down to the hand treatment of teeth on the zippers of his jackets to complete his vision.)
It is his great desire to create an exclusive collection, with an identity that disassociates itself from the masses, which led him to Paris to introduce his world embodied in Layer-0. Adopting classic tailoring techniques from Italy to incorporating his own take on traditional patterns from as far east as Japan. Layer-0 is a line that offers more than just experimental patterns, but grants us a wearable compendium of cultural crossroads.~David Choi

Conceptually brilliant designs and construction techniques are ubiquitously evident in every piece produced by Maurizio Amadei. His leatherwork is notable, in that most pieces are constructed from single pieces of leather, which are manipulated with folds and anchoring arrangements. Topstitched patchwork and joined construction are kept to a minimum. His work is unconventionally organic and done in a manner that demands great insight. ~David Choi
Marvielab
Mariavittoria “Marvie” Sargentini is a Perugia based designer. Her design career began when she decided to focus her studies on fashion at the Fashion Design Institute in Florence. She has worked for Antonio Marras, project Carpe Diem, where she played an integral role in developing and realizing Maurizio Altieri's conceptually forward Linea project.
Her concept is one of non-seasonal collections. A concept she has been faithfully pursuing and sharing for the past few years. Her clothing is designed with the utmost of comfort in mind, even for the most active lifestyles. She has focused research, not just on the body, but its movements and continues to develop her techniques based on this principle with classic tailoring methods. ~David Choi
